Student assistant (fixed-term contract) – Department of History and Classical Studies
Department of History and Classical Studies, School of Culture and Society, Aarhus University, is looking to recruit a student assistant (7 hours/week) for the period 1 January 2026 – 31 December 2026. The position is affiliated with Professor of Classical Archaeology and Art Rubina Raja’s research projects: Locally Crafted Empires (LoCiS), Lost Cities Rediscovered (LoCi), and A Digital Archive Platform for Research on the Danish Inter-World War Archaeological Engagement in the Middle East.

Applicants who can document experience from similar roles will have an advantage.
The position entails an average of 7 working hours/week; however, the distribution of working hours may vary.

The position
The successful candidate is expected to assist Professor Rubina Raja on a number of tasks related to her various research projects, including:- Literature searches
- Transcription
- Database/archival work, e.g. organising data and documenting findings
- Preparing materials for presentations, e.g. in Powerpoint
- Webpage maintenance
- Assisting with light administrative tasks, including conference organization and administrative support.
Qualifications
Applicants are expected to have the following qualifications:- Ability to work independently
- Structured and efficient approach to tasks/problem-solving
- Reliability when it comes to working hours and days
- Practical sense
- Good interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Enrolled in a relevant degree for the job, e.g. Archaeology, History or a related programme.
