Research Assistant (Computer Science) – Aarhus University Research Foundation (AUFF) SENSE: Sensory Education in Children with Multiple Impairments (Recruiting Grant, Foecker)
The Danish School of Education (DPU) at the Faculty of Arts, Aarhus University, invites applications for a research assistant position associated with the AUFF-funded research project “SENSE: Sensory Education in children with multiple impairments”.
The role offers flexible working hours spread over the two-year duration of the project (approximately 7 hours per week) begins on 1 March 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. We welcome applications from candidates who wish to hold this position alongside other professional roles, provided that scheduling requirements can be met and no conflicts of interest arise.

The position
We are seeking a highly motivated research assistant to join a project investigating how children with special needs engage with gamified sensory activities, and how these activities influence enjoyment, perception and cognition. The project aims to advance inclusive education by developing a theoretical and empirical basis for multisensory enrichment in learning environments.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of a specialised input device, applying their programming expertise to create an innovative and user-friendly tool.

Applicants must hold an MSc degree or document equivalent qualifications in a relevant field related to programming, such as computer science:
A brief programming task will also be included in the interview.

- programming and designing games for the device
- developing experimental tasks
- assisting with data analysis.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold an MSc degree or document equivalent qualifications in a relevant field related to programming, such as computer science:
- experience or a strong interest in programming and technology development
- enthusiasm to learn how to use new development tools, such as Arduino
- strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
- enthusiasm for educational technology and a passion for making a difference in the lives of children with special needs
- sensitivity and an interest in interacting with children with special educational needs, including those with visual impairments.
