About the research project
The project pursues molecular mechanisms underlying the development of cardiomyopathy and heart failure. We use genetically engineered (e.g. gene knockout) and environmentally induced (e.g. high fat diet) animal models to mimic heart failure forms found in patients. Of specific interest are pathological alterations in cardiac signalling pathways, which lead to altered gene programs, and changed posttranslational modifications in cardiac substrate proteins. Another focus forms deciphering cellular effects of autocrine and/or paracrine signalling by nitric oxide, stemming either from cardiac endothelial cells or cardiomyocytes.Your job responsibilities
