The English Writing Centre (EWC) at the Department of English has two vacant positions as instructors (student teachers/counsellors), responsible for IVK English (International Business Communication) with an additional interest in the SLK-and ICS sections of the department. EWC supports students with writing through peer advice, counselling hours, small student-led writing groups, materials, and workshops. Instructors complete a compulsory 30-hour training course in March/early April 2026, earn a writing instructor certificate, and are employed at the EWC for at least one year starting Spring 2026, with the option to continue through Spring 2028.

Responsibilities:

• Centre work and community building
• Counselling of students of all sections of the Department of English at BA- and MA-level
• Developing teaching material
• Planning and running workshops
• Other Centre activities.

Your role is to support students through individual counselling, drop-in visits, and office hours, while organizing activities and collaborating with English Department staff and the Centre Coordinator. The focus is on non-directive counselling, writing processes, and developing writing competence and confidence, and you must be available during peak semester periods and be at least in your fourth BA semester.

Requirements

• High level of proficiency in English
• Keen interest in academic writing and in supporting others
• Willingness to assess other students’ learning needs and to explain principles and concepts individually and in small groups
• Interest and willingness to learn about and work with GenAI-tools during counselling and workshops
• Interest in the continuous development and management of the Centre
• Interest in training and in train-the-trainer activities
• Ability to self-managing counselling hours, training sessions and workshops.

The department seeks creative individuals with strong communication, interpersonal, coaching, and teaching skills who can motivate themselves and others.
