Assistant Professor of Computational Neuroscience
The Department of Clinical Medicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as Assistant Professor in the field of Computational Neuroscience as per 1st September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a fixed-term full-time position for a minimum of 13 months, with an possibility for a 2 year contract, pending funding.
As an Assistant Professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine, you will be part of what is probably the largest health science research department in Denmark. Our clinical research covers all the medical specialties and takes place in close collaboration with the university hospital and the regional hospitals in the Central Denmark Region. We have approx. 30,000 square metres of modern research facilities for experimental surgery and medicine, animal facilities and also advanced scanners at our disposal. The department has overall responsibility for the Master's degree programs in medicine and in molecular medicine. At the department we are approx. 670 academic employees, 500 PhD students and 160 technical/administrative employees who are cooperating across disciplines. Your job responsibilities
As Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine your primary tasks will be research and research-based teaching. You will teach and supervise students at Bachelor’s and Master’s level, and you will contribute to the development of the department through research of high international quality. In your daily work, you will work closely with both Danish and international colleagues. The position of Assistant Professor is a career development position in which you will receive supervision and pedagogical upgrading.Your main tasks will consist of:
- Independent research of high international quality, including publication.
- Computational modelling of behavioural and neuroimaging data
- Writing and publication of scientific articles
- Some degree of contribution towards attracting external research funding.
Your Competences
You possess independent, high-level research qualifications with a strong international profile. You are an effective communicator, capable of conveying complex concepts clearly and confidently. You have experience supervising and teaching at both Bachelor's and Master's levels, with completed pedagogical courses in supervision or equivalent training. We particularly value experience with the development of PhD courses and engagement in external research collaborations.Critically Required Skills:
- Proven expertise in data acquisition, preprocessing, and statistical modeling of functional MRI, quantitative MRI, and/or MEG data.
- Hands-on experience in designing and implementing perceptual and psychophysical tasks.
- Extensive experience in interoception, decision-making, and affective bias research.
- Experience conducting behavioral and neuroimaging experiments with human participants.
- Familiarity with computational modeling of behavioral data (e.g., DDM), fMRI data (e.g., GLM, RSA), or EEG/MEG data (e.g., source modeling, DCM).
- A strong track record of publications in psychophysics, perceptual decision-making, and/or neuroimaging in internationally recognized research journals.
- Proficiency with GitHub and data-sharing formats for neuroimaging, such as BIDS.
- Enthusiasm for fostering a collaborative research environment through effective supervision of students and research assistants.

Terms of employment
- Appointment as an assistant professor requires academic qualifications at PhD level.
- Further information on the appointment procedure can be found in the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities.
- The appointment is in accordance with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikerne).
- Remuneration is in accordance with the above, and the Salary agreement catalogue for staff at Health.
- The yearly base salary for a fulltime assistant professor is between DKK 484.214,84 and DKK 538.720,20 depending on the years of working experience after achieved MSc degree. The base salary includes a position related supplement and pension (17.1 %). Additional supplement(s) for special qualifications can be negotiated. Authorisation supplement(s) will be granted, if relevant for the position. Your local eligible trade union representative at Aarhus University negotiates your salary on your behalf.
