ERC-funded Postdoctoral Fellow in Synapse Biology
The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics invites you to apply for a two-year position in Sun lab at DANDRITE- Nordic EMBL partnership in molecular medicine, focusing on understanding the basic mechanisms of protein quality control in neuronal synapses, as well as its relevance in stroke and various forms of brain injuries, starting 2026 spring.

This is a two–year position from Feb 1st, 2026 or as soon possible, with possibilities for extension.Job description
- You will develop genetic tools to study cellular mechanisms of protein quality control in neuronal synapses
- You will be working with primary neuron cultures, rodent in vivo models, and patient brain biopsies
- You will use advanced microscopy for super-resolution and live imaging at single-synapse/molecule resolutions
Your profile
Applicants should hold a PhD in molecular and cellular neurobiology or similar.- Experience in primary neuron cultures and rodent in vivo models is necessary
- Experience with super-resolution microscopy, genetics, and functional 4D imaging of neurons and brain tissues is necessary
- Publication experience is a must
- Collaboration and project management skills
- Experiences in presenting at international conferences are desirable
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a team is a must

Deadline

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. Formalities and salary range
Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
