We invite applications of Electrical Engineers (Ba/Ma) for participating in a research projects for 2 months starting May, 1st, 2026 in the HCC section at the Department of Computer Science.
Our research is at the cutting edge of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), personal fabrication, and physical user interfaces. As a research assistant, you will support our research team on implementing a novel oral interface technology. We pioneered the first fabrication platform for embedding custom sensors, actuators, microcontrollers, and batteries in a small enough form factor to embed them in 3D printed retainers (MouthIO). These smart retainers are invisible enabling subtle interaction. Your task will be to support the team in miniaturizing and programming the internal electronics of these wearable devices.
Qualifications and specific competences:
You should hold a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree in electrical engineering. You should show strong competencies in PCB Design (KiCad or similar), programming microcontrollers (ESP32, ATMega,…), and building fully functional prototypes (3D printing, laser cutting, product design). Prior experience in Human-Computer Interaction is recommended but not mandatory.

Application procedure
Short-listing is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment.
