The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aarhus University, invites applications for a 6-month Research Assistant position offering applicants an exciting opportunity to join a research project on chip-integrated narrow-linewidth laser systems for quantum photonics. The position is available from 1. September 2025.
Expected start date and duration of employment
This is a fixed-term position for 6 months starting on 1 September 1 2025 or as soon as possible hereafter.
Job description
You will be contributing to the development and characterization of chip-integrated narrow-linewidth laser systems. The position will focus on experimental work, including setup, measurement, data analysis, and documentation. You will be working primarily with advanced photonics equipment and collaborating closely with other researchers in the Integrated Photonics group.
These activities will also involve supporting the preparation of scientific publications and contributing to laboratory development, including facilities for quantum photonics experiments.
Your profile
Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
We expect:
• Experience in experimental photonics or optics, including laboratory work with lasers and measurement systems
• Skills in data analysis and scientific documentation
• The ability to work independently and take responsibility for experimental planning and execution
• Good collaboration skills and the ability to contribute to a research team
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
It will be an advantage if you also have:
• Experience with programming tools for data analysis (e.g., Python, MATLAB)
• Familiarity with cleanroom processes or photonic chip characterization
• Prior contributions to publications or reports in relevant fields

Deadline

Short-listing is used.
