Research Assistant in biological psychiatry

The Department of Clinical Medicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as research assistant in the field of biological psychiatry as per 15 February 2026. The position is a fixed-term full-time position for 11 months.

At the Department of Clinical Medicine, you will be part of what is probably the largest health science research department in Denmark. Our clinical research covers all the medical specialties and takes place in close collaboration with the university hospital and the regional hospitals in the Central Denmark Region. We have approx. 30,000 square metres of modern research facilities for experimental surgery and medicine, animal facilities and also advanced scanners at our disposal. The department has overall responsibility for the Master's degree programs in medicine and in molecular medicine. At the department we are approx. 670 academic employees, 500 PhD students and 160 technical/administrative employees who are cooperating across disciplines. Your job responsibilities

The position is primarily research-based but may also involve teaching activities. You will be expected to contribute to the development of the department through research of high international quality. In your daily work, you will work closely with colleagues on your project, where you will receive supervision and guidance. The project is a collaboration between Department of Functional Disorders and Translational Neuropsychiatry Unit and will explore the biological background of Functional Diseases.

Your main tasks will consist of optimising, conducting, analysing, and presenting results from:

ELISA-based assays
Lipidomic assays
Radioimmunoassays
HPLC
Shotgun metagenomics

You will report to Associate Professors Lise Gormsen and Cecilie Bay-Richter.

Your qualifications and competences

Academic qualifications at M.Sc. level within the areas of molecular medicine, neurobiology, neuroscience or related field.
Recent hands-on experience with the techniques listed above, as well as strong expertise in bioinformatic analysis of metagenomic data.
The ability to take initiative, direct your own work, and take ownership of a research project.

Personal competences

Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
An inclusive, team-oriented mindset and the ability to contribute positively to the work environment.
Fluency in spoken and written English.

Terms of employment

Appointment as a research assistant requires academic qualifications at master's degree level.

The appointment is in accordance with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikerne).
Remuneration is in accordance with the above, and the Salary agreement catalogue for staff at Health.
