The Department of Biomedicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as Postdoc in the field of genome editing as per 1 January 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a fixed-term full-time position for 30 months.

About the research group
The research group is led by Associate Professor
Rasmus O. Bak. The group specializes in genetic engineering using various CRISPR/Cas platforms, and we focus on applying these for gene therapy and the development of novel cell therapies. The research group is based in the new Skou Building in the heart of the Aarhus University

Your job responsibilities
As Postdoc in genome editing your position is primarily research-based but will also involve teaching assignments. You will contribute to the development of the department through research of high international quality. In your daily work, you will work closely with colleagues on your project, where you will receive supervision and guidance. The project you will be working on involves preclinical development of state-of-the-art genome editing tools such as HDR, base editing, and prime editing for inborn errors of immunity. We have a close collaboration with Aarhus University Hospital on this project, which is part of a new research initiative, GenesCure, funded by the Innovation Foundation Denmark in the
PASCAL-MID research center.Your main tasks will consist of:
- Research activities including basic molecular biology techniques such as CRISPR/Cas design, plasmid cloning, in vitro mRNA transcription, RNA/DNA purification, cell culture with cell lines and primary blood cells, electroporation, multi-color flow cytometry, droplet digital PCR, DNA sequencing including NGS, viral vector production, and mouse xenotransplantation experiments.
- Analysis, interpretation, and reporting of laboratory data
- Oral and written dissemination of research outcomes
- Contribution to general laboratory maintenance and tasks
- Supervision of students in the lab.
- Teaching on the medical degree program and at the AU Summer University
You will be under daily supervision by group leader Rasmus O. Bak, and you will formally report to the Head of Department Thomas G. Jensen.
Your competences
You have academic qualifications at the PhD level in the area of biomedical research. Experience in CRISPR/Cas methods, flow cytometry, NGS, and mouse xenotransplantation experiments are required. You should be able to work independently with an outreaching and problem-solving mindset. As a person, you are structured, have good interpersonal skills, you function well within a dynamic group environment, you are friendly, helpful, and able to contribute to a good work environment.
We work in a highly international environment, and we expect you to be fluent in oral and written English.
