About the research project

Multiple myeloma is a highly heterogeneous disease arising from plasma cells proliferating in the patient’s bone marrow. The disease heterogeneity, incl. varying response to treatment, may be explained by variations in the interactions between cancer cells and different immune cells within the tumor microenvironment. The aim of the present project is to delineate molecular immune-related differences between patients with varying treatment responses using advanced profiling techniques (flow cytometry and RNAseq incl. scRNAseq). Further, we aim to establish in vitro and in vivo models to investigate drug responses in relation to immune-cell mediated killing of multiple myeloma cancer cells.
