Nat AI Lab is an emerging interdisciplinary hub committed to advancing research and teaching through cutting-edge AI technologies. Anchored at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Aarhus University, the AI lab will foster collaborations across disciplines and push boundaries in analytical and generative AI for research data transformation.


The Opportunity

We are seeking a committed and visionary LLM expert to lead and drive the development of LLM initiatives as part of our ambitious new AI Lab. As an NLP/LLM expert, you will play a key role in the AI Lab team and be responsible for a broad range of activities related to the development, analysis, and dissemination of LLM technologies in an academic context.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build tailored LLM/RAG solutions, such as:
    • Teaching Assistance (TA) style chatbots for specific courses
    • Literature assistants for PhD students and early-career researchers
    • Tools for effective grant and article writing
  • Design and deliver webinars and courses (both online and in-person) with hands-on training on the potential and limitations of LLMs in teaching and research.
  • Communicate broadly at NAT about the services of the NAT AI Lab
  • Conduct needs assessments (e.g., open calls for 'letters of interest').
  • Facilitate workshops focused on analyzing the need for local vs. subscription-based LLM services.
  • Collaborate with computer science researchers on NLP and Knowledge Graphs research, focusing on improving semantic accuracy of generative AI outputs.


Your Profile

We expect that you:
  • Hold a Master’s or PhD in Natural Sciences or Engineering, with specialization or strong experience in AI/ML and LLM technologies.
  • Have experience with implementing LLM/RAG solutions
  • Possess excellent communication skills and enjoy teaching and collaborating across disciplines
  • Are analytical, proactive, and skilled at translating needs into technical solutions
  • Thrive in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment

Terms & Application Details

  • Employment Duration: 2.5 years, with possibility of extension if AI Lab becomes a permanent facility
  • Start Date: 1 January 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter 
  • Location: Department of Physics and Astronomy, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Aarhus University, Ny Munkegade 120, 8000 Aarhus C, Denmark.

Formalities and salary range

Salary and terms as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Unions.
