Laboratory Technician at Section for Microbiology, Department of Biology, Aarhus University



The Section for Microbiology, https://bio.au.dk/en/about-biology/sections/microbiology , invites applications for a full-time position (37 hours per week) as laboratory technician, starting from 1. November 2025 with no time limit.


We seek

A laboratory technician (with completed vocational training/Business Academy education) within either microbiology, molecular biology, or environmental technology, ideally with practical experience in at least one of these fields, a flair for experimental and field work, and good communication skills in English.

You should be willing to engage in multiple projects at a time and to independently plan and prioritize your time, with the overall mission to support our research and teaching. To begin with, enrichment and cultivation of environmental microorganisms, and fluorescence in situ hybridization incl. service and support for light and fluorescence microscopes will be the major tasks.

The successful candidate is initially affiliated with projects at our Center for Electromicrobiology, CEM, http://cem.au.dk, a Center of Excellence supported by the Danish National Research Foundation, and in the longer run expected to engage in projects across all 12 project leaders (PIs) at the Section for Microbiology.

Who we are

Research at the Section for Microbiology aims to understand microbial life and processes in nature and in engineered systems. On the way we develop new research tools and applications for environmental management, industry, and health.

The Section offers an international working environment with about 50 researchers, students, and support staff, including 12 PIs and 8 experienced technicians, state-of-the-art facilities for molecular and ecological microbiology, gene sequencing, geochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, electrochemistry, and experimental laboratory and field work.
