Faculty position in proteomics (Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor) at Aarhus University, Denmark

The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MBG), Aarhus University invites applications for a permanent position within the areas of proteomics and/or mass spectrometry-driven biology. Depending on the qualifications of the applicant, the position will be at the Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, Tenured Associate Professor or Full Professor level, starting in Jan 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

With the new position, MBG seeks to complement and expand its current research portfolio and teaching activities in protein science and proteomics. We seek a person with cutting edge knowledge of both mass spectrometry technology and the associated analytic tools for proteomics. Our department has strong research programmes in protein science, structural biology and bioinformatics, and we seek a colleague with a collaborative attitude who can bridge those areas. The applicant is expected to contribute to the maintenance and development of an existing core facility for mass spectrometry within the department.

As a researcher at MBG, you will be part of a vibrant, collaborative and international research environment. Internal communication and teaching at the Department is primarily conducted in English and international candidates are therefore not required to learn Danish.

As an assistant professor in a tenure-track position, you are expected to develop an independent and competitive research programme, and you will be offered local mentoring during the tenure-track period. In case of more senior applicants, a position as tenured associate professor or full professor will be considered.  The Danish funding landscape offers many different grant schemes within the life sciences, including start package grants for international recruitment.

MBG aims to be an attractive and inspiring workplace for all, and we view equality and diversity as assets. We encourage applicants to specify periods of leave without research activities in their CV, to be able to subtract these periods from the span of the scientific career during the evaluation of scientific productivity. Aarhus University offers a broad variety of services for international researchers and accompanying families, including relocation service and career counselling to expat partners. English is spoken with high proficiency by most Danes, which will ease the arrival and integration of international applicants.

The candidate

A qualified candidate must have a strong background in proteomics and be able to demonstrate striking capabilities in independent research, its dissemination, funding acquisition, and teaching. Outstanding results from a highly productive postdoc position, including substantial international experience, are essential for a tenure-track appointment. Successful establishment of an original research programme and significant experience with academic training and teaching are essential qualifications for an associate and a full professorship. The candidate is expected to communicate fluently in English.
