The section for Plant Molecular Biology at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Aarhus University is looking for a skilled Communications Officer.
As Communications Lead, you will play a central role in elevating the visibility, influence, and global reach of a groundbreaking international research consortium. This world-class program brings together scientists from leading institutions across the globe to tackle one of agriculture’s most pressing challenges: making food production more sustainable and equitable.
The focus of the program is to enhance and scale the use of beneficial microorganisms that naturally deliver essential nutrients to crops. By reducing dependence on inorganic fertilizers, this approach offers a more sustainable and accessible solution—especially for smallholder farmers in resource-limited settings.
Achieving this goal would mark a major scientific breakthrough, directly supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the goal of ending hunger. Your work will help ensure that the program’s innovations and impact are recognized worldwide.
Expected start date and duration of employmentThis is a one–year position with the possibility of extension starting from 1 October 2025 or as soon possible.
As Communications Lead, you will develop and implement strategic communication plans that elevate the program’s global visibility and ensure alignment across international teams. You will lead both internal and external communications to deliver clear, consistent, and compelling messaging.
You will create engaging content for digital platforms, manage media relations, and maintain a strong visual identity across all materials. This includes overseeing the website, social media, newsletters, press releases, and visual content in collaboration with creative professionals.
In addition, you will support event communications, coordinate outreach campaigns, and serve as a brand ambassador to uphold the program’s reputation and values. Close collaboration with researchers, partners, and content specialists will be key to delivering credible and impactful communication.
You are a versatile communications professional with a strong academic foundation—ideally a PhD or MSc in biology or a related life science field. Your deep understanding of the research environment enables you to translate complex scientific concepts into clear, engaging communication for both expert and general audiences.
You bring proven experience in research communication, from strategic planning to hands-on content creation across digital platforms. With excellent writing skills in both English and Danish, you’re confident managing websites, social media, and visual storytelling, while maintaining a consistent brand voice.
Collaborative and proactive, you thrive in dynamic, international settings and enjoy working across disciplines and cultures. Your creativity, strategic mindset, and ability to build trust make you a valuable partner to researchers, leadership, and external stakeholders alike.
