Academic employee (AC-TAP) within animal behaviour in Neuroscience

The Department of Biomedicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as a Academic employee within Neuroscience as per 1 September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a time-limited (1-year), half time position to support on behaviour test of small rodents, managing breeding lines, and lab organization. Extension is a possibility.

Your job responsibilities

As Academic employee, your primary tasks are managing the research group animal census, supporting the performance of behavior tests in small rodents, and supporting on handling and training of mouse models of neurological disease for awake imaging. You contribute to a project associated with the development of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, through your work with animal models and managing breeding. In your daily work, you have a close interaction with competent colleagues. Other activities will be associated to support on analysis of behavioral data.

Your main tasks will consist of:
  • Behavior test: Barnes Maze, Open Field test, Plus maze, Novel Object Recognition test
  • Usage of behavior software (Noldus)
  • Training mice for optical imaging
  • Teaching of behavior tests to students
  • Support in the design of studies integrating Behavioral tests.
  • Administrative responsibilities, such as census of animal models
  • Collaboration with other researchers applying behavioral tests in their projects

You will report to the Thomas G. Jensen and Eugenio Gutiérrez.

Your competences

You have a background in mouse breeding and animal handling, and experience with behavior tests for an experimental biology project.

As a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are inclusive and team-oriented and able to contribute to a good work environment.

We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English.

We expect to conduct interviews week 27. You may be given a case in connection with the interviews.
