The Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Aarhus University, invites qualified applicants for a 2-year postdoctoral position in ruminant nutrition, forage evaluation, and rumen nutrient modelling. The position is available from 1 November 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter in the research section

Position:
The Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences seeks a candidate with a strong background in ruminant nutrition and especially in forage evaluation and modelling rumen nutrient metabolism.
The successful candidate is expected to take part in the initiatives within forage evaluation, the effects of grazing on enteric methane emission, and modelling rumen nutrient metabolism - with a special focus on quantifying flows of H and C in the rumen using stabile isotopes. These initiatives aim to mitigate the environmental and climate impact of dairy cows.
The candidate will contribute to attracting external funding within this area of research. The postdoc will participate in knowledge exchange with public authorities and industry and will be involved in teaching and supervising students at the BSc, MSc, and PhD levels.
Qualifications for a postdoc position:
- Academic qualifications at the PhD level in animal science
- Research experience in dairy cow nutrition and feed evaluation
- Research experience with the use of stabile isotopes and modelling rumen flows
- Experience in conducting various types of animal trials, ranging from intensive trials focusing on feed evaluation, gas exchange, nutrient digestion, and metabolism, to production trials focusing on nutrient intake, production efficiency, and milk production.

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
